Lobby trip to EU and French Institutions, Paris - Strasbourg

Euromed Feminist Initiative IFE-EFI organized a lobby trip to EU and French Institutions for a delegation from the Syrian Feminist Lobby. The purpose of the trip, which took place from 22 to 25 November 2016, was to visit political institutions and discuss women’s political participation.

Six members from the Syrian Feminist Lobby visited the French National Assembly, Paris City Hall, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as well as the EU Parliament in Strasbourg.

Two years ago, on 9th January 2013, the three Kurdish activists: Sakine Cansız, Fidan Doğan and Leyla Şaylemez were brutally murdered in the French capital Paris.
Cansız was a co-founder of the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK), Fidan Doğan, the representative of the Kurdistan National Congress (KNK) in Paris, and Leyla Şaylemez, member of the Kurdish youth movement.

Maya Surduts the iconic figure of the French feminist struggle has passed away

Maya Surduts, committed activist and strong voice of the protest associative movement in France died last week at the age of 79. She was President of the Coordination of Associations for the Right to Abortion and Contraception (CADAC) and co-spokesperson of the National Collective for Women’s Rights (CNDF). Despite her age, she still fully participated in the feminist debate and the associative movement.
