The EuroMed Feminist Initiative (EFI), and with the support of SIDA, held a gender sensitivity training in Erbil from 12-16 October, 2021, whereby 8 selected civil society activists and leaders were provided with media and comms skills pertinent to raising gender awareness. The goal of this training is to help partners increase visibility of the plight of women and girls affected by the Syria crisis in a manner that does not compromise human dignity; does not take away their voice; and works in line with internationally recognized humanitarian standards.
Under the “Supporting political transition in Syria through gender-sensitive social reconstruction” program, funded by the Swedish International Development and Cooperation agency (SIDA), EuroMed Feminist Initiative (EFI) held a training for 23 selected Syrian Civil Society activists in Turkey, from the 24th until the 27th of September, 2021.
EuroMed Feminist Initiative organized a 5-day training of trainers on the “ABC for a gender-sensitive Constitution” in Beirut, Lebanon. The event gathered 10 Syrian participants, from lawyers, human rights defenders, women rights activists and volunteers working with local communities on women’s rights and on women’s participation in all aspects of public life.
The EuroMed Feminist Initiative organized a training on the “Provision of Legal and Psychosocial Support to Women Survivors of Gender-Based Violence” of a program funded by the Swedish International Development Cooperation (SIDA). The training was held from the 7th to the 11th of October 2019 in Beirut. It gathered 20 Syrian participants, from service providers, caseworkers, lawyers and volunteers working with local communities, refugees and internal displaced persons.
In the frame of the 41st session of the UN Human Rights Council, EuroMed Feminist Initiative organized a lobby trip in Geneva for a delegation of Syrian women rights activists. The purpose of the trip, which took place from 1 to 4 July 2019, was to create a platform of dialogue with different stakeholders and decision-makers in order to lobby for prioritizing women’s rights and gender equality in the constitutional and transitional processes.
In the frame of the 41st session of the United Nations Human Rights Council (HRC41), the EuroMed Feminist Initiative and the European Union Delegation to the United Nations organized a panel discussion “The Impact of Sexual and Gender-Based Violence on Women Participation” on the 3rd of July 2019 in Room XXVII, Palais Des Nations, Geneva.
On the 8th and 9th April 2019, the EuroMed Feminist Initiative (EFI-IFE) organized a two-day training workshop for Syrian activists on “Awareness raising techniques and behaviour change” at the Four Points by Sheraton hotel in Beirut, Lebanon. This event took place in the framework of the project “Towards Sustainable Peace and Democracy in Syria Through Strengthening Civil Society and Women’s Rights”, funded by Sweden.
The International conference Electoral Systems and Gender Equality in Democratic Transitions was organized by the Coalition of Syrian Women for Democracy and EuroMed Feminist Initiative on the 27 -28th February 2018 at the Centre International de Conférences de Genève (CICG), Switzerland. The conference took place in the frame of the program “Towards Sustainable Peace and Democracy in Syria Through Strengthening Civil Society and Women’s Rights” funded by Sweden.
The International Conference “Gender-sensitive transitional justice process in Syria” organized by EuroMed Feminist Initiative, in collaboration with the Syrian Feminist Lobby, took place on the 20th and 21st of February 2019 in Paris, France, in the frame of the program Toward Sustainable Peace and Democracy in Syria Through Strengthening Civil Society and Women Rights funded by Sweden.
