In the framework of the project “Combating Violence against Women in the Southern Mediterranean Region”, funded by the European Union, AWO held two training workshops on Violence Against Women and Girls on 27 - 28 July, 2020 in Irbid and Mafraq governorates in Jordan. The workshops aimed at strengthening the capacities of the CBOs and CSOs on CEDAW, UNSCR 1325, Istanbul Convention, CS Declaration 2017, 4th UfM Ministerial Declaration and legal discrimination within the Jordanian Personal Status Law and Penal Law.

Ministry of Women Affairs and PWWSD Sign a Memorandum of Understanding to Combat Violence Against Women and Girls

Dr. Amal Hamad, the Minister of Women Affairs signed today with PWWSD, represented by its General Director Ms. Amal Khreisheh, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on "Combating Violence against Women and Girls in the Southern Mediterranean Region". The MoU aims to institutionalize the rights-based approach to promoting gender equality in all sectors. It was signed in the framework of the regional project “Combating Violence Against Women and Girls in the Southern Mediterranean Region” funded by the European Union (EU).

One hundred and fifty-four participants from eighty-seven civil society organisations, together with decision makers, ministerial representatives, legal and gender experts, as well as media from twelve countries from the South Mediterranean gathered on 10-11 December in Tunis for the Regional Forum on Combating Discrimination in Legislation.
