The 61st session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW61) took place at the United Nations Headquarters in New York, from 13 – 24 March 2017. The Permanent Mission of Sweden, in collaboration with Euromed Feminist Initiative and Women’s UN Report Network (WUNRN), co-hosted a panel discussion on “Ensuring Women’s Participation in Future Political and Economic Decision-making in Syria Now”.

We can no longer allow the deaths of those seeking refuge

Following the deaths of several hundred migrants in the Mediterranean Sea, we must awaken to challenges we face as a global community in times of incessant war and systems of oppression and inequality. Political powers in the west hold increasing power to change policy that has the potential to change the deplorable reality for those seeking asylum. Within these changes to policy and international demilitarisation, IFE-EFI supports resolutions that recognise the need for gender equality within diplomacy.

Women’s Political Participation in Syria, Nov 2016, Paris

On November 21st-22nd, the Syrian Feminist Lobby and Euromed Feminist Initiative organized an international conference in Paris entitled “Women’s Political Participation in Syria”. The conference gathered women’s rights defenders, political activists and academics, from Europe and the Middle East.
