Side event on “Syria: Equality in Education for eliminating Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG)”

On the occasion of the NGO Committee on the Status of Women (CSW67) Forum, EuroMed Feminist Initiative with Women’s UN Report Network (WUNRN) organised on March 8th a side event in New York on “Syria: Equality in Education for eliminating violence against women and girls (VAWG)”.
The panel explored how equality in, and through education can contribute to the elimination of VAWG in the Syrian context.
It also highlighted the recommendations from the “Common Agenda for Combating Violence Against Women and Girls as a Major Barrier to Women’s Participation in Syria” that was developed in a consultative process involving over 250 actors and activists from Syria, as well as residing in Turkey, Middle East, North Africa and Europe.
The panel presented experiences from other countries in the MENA Region on the use of innovative tools and methodologies.
