Amal Khreiche
Amal Khreiche is the General Director of the Palestinian Working Women's Association (PWWSD) since 1996. She holds her first University title in the field of Psychology from the University of Jordan and holds a master’s degree in international studies from Birzeit University. She is the founding member of many national, regional and international coalitions and alliances for the protection of human rights: The Governing Council of the Euro-Mediterranean Women's Initiative; the Karama Regional Network; the National Committee for the Implementation of Security Council Resolution 1325; the High Committee for Local Government Elections; the CEDAW Convention Implementation Coalition; the Committee for the Oversight of Legislation in Palestine; the Forum against Violence against Women; and the Women Civil Alliance for the Implementation of Security Council UN Resolution 1325. Her role is prominent in the voluntary work that has rehabilitated mass action in Palestine since the 1980s, contributing to the establishment of the mass feminist movement "Confederation of Palestinian Working Women's Committees". She led the first psychological counselling programme in the women's movement in Palestine in the early 1990s to provide psychosocial support to women and children, announcing the first telephone line open to women victims of violence and led the first campaign against gender-based violence in 1997 in coordination with the United Nations Development Fund for Women (UNIFAM) Committee. She also contributed to the training of several civil society institutions in building intervention and advocacy strategies to consolidate the concept of gender equality, rights and conflict resolution within the strategy of promoting gender equality in Palestine, as well as its contribution to the development of women's Agenda for Peace and Security National Plan for the Implementation of Security Council Resolution 1325 and the Strategic Framework of the Women's Civil Alliance for the Implementation of Resolution 1325.
