Researcher Internship - Jordan

EuroMed Feminist Initiative is implementing a regional project “Combating Violence against Women in the Southern Mediterranean Region”, funded by the EU. The overall objective is to contribute to the elimination of all forms of violence against women and girls (VAWG) in the Southern Neighborhood States.
For the purpose of the project, a Regional Civil Society Observatory has been established in Amman and hosted by EFI.
EFI is looking for a motivated and enthusiastic young graduate to enroll in an internship and support the work of the research team at the observatory.
Specific responsibilities are :
Under the direct guidance of the regional observatory research team, the intern is expected to perform the following tasks:
- Help conduct research in the field of Violence against Women and Girls (VAWG), Women Peace and Security Agenda (WPSA) and Combating Violent Extremism (CVE).
- Compile information, data and statistics on the laws, public policies and government’s services related to VAWG, WPSA, and CVE.
- Review summaries and reports as per the request of the researchers
Team Collaboration :
This position reports directly to the Regional Observatory research team.
Close collaboration with EFI Project Coordinator based in Amman.
Job requirement :
- University degree in human social or political sciences (relevant courses related to gender studies, advocacy, women’s economic empowerment, project cycle management are assets)
- Excellent written and oral communication in English and Arabic is essential.
- Excellent Microsoft Office application
Skills-set :
- Excellent writing skills
- Awareness of and sensitive to working in multiple socio-economic settings and with multi-cultural groups
- Knowledge of women’s rights, international law, including human rights, humanitarian law, and regional and international human rights mechanisms.
Competencies:
- Knowledge of the situation and challenges in the MENA region
- Energetic and positive attitude with strong interpersonal and intrapersonal skills.
- An analytical and problem-solving approach
- Ability to communicate in a clear, precise and structured way, presents effectively
- Flexibility
