EuroMed Feminist Initiative is a policy platform that provides expertise in the field of equality and women’s rights as inseparable from democracy building and citizenship, and advocates for political solutions to all conflicts, and for the right of peoples to self-determination. EuroMed Feminist Initiative seeks to improve and promote women’s rights as universal human rights, the value of equality and the use of non-violent means to solve conflicts. Our criterion and position align with the international resolutions and conventions and regional instruments promoting the universality of women’s rights and strengthening women's impact and voices in conflict resolution.
Vision
Our vision is an egalitarian and demilitarized world where enjoyment of universal human rights for women and men is a leading value and practice and where the principles of equality between women and men and intersectional non-discrimination are constitutive elements of social rule and way of life.
Mission
Our mission is to advocates for equality between women and men as a key foundation for democracy and sustainable development, towards the creation of positive changes in the whole society through:
· Supporting networking and promoting international solidarity.
· Providing platforms for multi-sector policy dialogue and initiatives aiming at correcting power imbalances between women and men and eliminating all forms of discrimination and violence against women and girls.
· Acting for strengthening women´s self-organizing and discourse for equal access to resources and power.
· Creating and supporting spaces for exchange across socio-political borders and building common analyses in the respect of the different contexts, that advance democracy, full citizenship and peace in the EuroMed region and globally.
Objectives
- Reduced power imbalance between women and men curbing all forms of direct and indirect discrimination against women and girls.
- Enhanced peace and security with zero tolerance for all forms of VAWG as core principles.
- Equal access of women to decision making and resources in social, economic, and political fields.
Method
EuroMed Feminist Initiative uses feminist critique and analyses in order to underline the different connections between the structures of subordination in peace and war, between economic systems, war and patriarchy, between the front march of the neo-liberal rhetoric and the reduced status of women’s rights. It also shed the light on the role of social movements, as well as the reduced possibilities for egalitarian redistribution of resources and statuses. EuroMed Feminist Initiative stresses the especially vulnerable position of migrant women.
What is EuroMed Feminist Initiative?
Founded in 2003 as European Feminist Initiative and formally enlarged to EuroMed Feminist Initiative during its General Assembly on 5th Dec 2014, EuroMed Feminist Initiative is a policy platform that provides expertise in the field of equality between women and men and advocates for women’s human rights as inseparable from democracy building and citizenship, for political solutions to all conflicts, and for the right of peoples to self-determination.
