Nadia Ait Zai
Nadia Ait Zai is the President of the Foundation for Equality / Ciddef and & Board Member of the EuroMed Feminist Initiative (IFE-EFI). She is a Researcher on children and women's rights issues and published numerous articles on these questions. She is an Expert on violence in the North-South Committee of the Council of Europe and Expert in the subgroup on socio-economic rights of the African Commission on Human Rights . She is also a Member of the African SOAWR network (The Solidarity for African Women Right's) on the Maputo Protocol.

Algeria has been committed to aligning its national legislation with the international conventions it has signed, to protect children. The Convention on the Rights of the Child, along with the two Optional Protocols addressing the sale of children and pornography, as well as the one dealing with the involvement of children in armed conflicts, and the African Charter on the Rights and Welfare of the Child, have been ratified by Algeria. The provision of protection to children have been defined by the law in Algeria, stating the responsibilities of families, parents, communities and the state.
